Facial palsy is paralysis of a face part occurring due to non-functioning of a nerve that controls face muscles, particularly the muscles around mouth and eye. This nerve is known as facial nerve.
Facial paralysis generally affects half of the face. The affected half face flattens along with loss of forehead horizontal lines and wrinkles, a droopy eyebrow, difficulty in closing eye, inability to whistle, and corner of mouth is pulled down. The surgery is even done on brow, forehead, midface, lower face, and mouth’s corner for improving symmetry.
